    The Windows build covers desktops and laptops running Windows 7 through 11. It is designed for company-owned computers with employee notice, or a shared family PC — not for a machine you do not own.

    Requirements and installation

    Windows 7 SP1, 8, 8.1, 10 or 11, 2 GB RAM, 300 MB of disk space, and a local administrator account. Download the installer from your dashboard, run it as administrator, and let it register a background service that starts with Windows. SmartScreen may warn about a new publisher on first install; choose More info, then Run anyway.

    Where Windows monitoring is appropriate

    Two situations justify it. First, a company computer: employers may monitor hardware they own when employees are informed in writing and have acknowledged the policy, and many organisations do exactly this for data-loss and acceptable-use reasons. Second, a shared family PC in your own home, where a child uses the machine and knows monitoring is in place.

    It is not appropriate on a partner's or roommate's personal laptop, on a machine you borrow, or on any device where the user has not been told. Installing monitoring software on someone else's computer is a criminal offence in many jurisdictions, regardless of who pays for the internet connection.

    What Windows monitoring cannot do

    It cannot read messages inside end-to-end encrypted apps such as Signal or WhatsApp desktop beyond what is visible on screen or captured in a screenshot. It cannot see activity on a phone paired to the PC. It cannot recover deleted files, and it cannot be installed without administrator rights — there is no "remote install over the network" option.

    Managing the install

    The service runs quietly in the background and survives reboots. Uninstalling requires administrator rights, which is also why the person using the computer should be told it is there. To stop collection without uninstalling, remove the device in the dashboard — uploads stop immediately and the local service goes idle.

    Does it work on Windows 11?

    Yes, on Windows 7 SP1 through Windows 11, 32-bit and 64-bit, with administrator rights for installation.

    Can I install it remotely on a PC in another city?

    No. Installation requires administrator access on the machine itself. Anyone offering remote PC installation without access is not describing a working product.

    Is monitoring an employee's work laptop legal?

    On company-owned hardware with written notice and an acknowledged policy, generally yes in the US and UK. Personal devices, personal accounts and covert monitoring are not covered.

    Does it record everything typed?

    It records keystrokes in supported applications. Content inside apps that encrypt independently, or activity that never reaches the keyboard layer, may not be captured.
