There is no single best tracking app, because the answer changes with the phone: iPhone means Apple's own Find My, Android means Family Link or a paid monitoring app, and a mixed household usually ends up on Life360. Anyone who names one winner for every case is selling it.
Pick by what you actually need:
- Location only, free, any phone → Google Maps location sharing or Life360's free tier.
- Location plus screen time and app limits, free → Google Family Link on Android, Family Sharing on iPhone.
- Location plus messages, calls and social apps, Android → a paid monitoring product; this is the tier where free tools stop.
- iPhone plus message visibility → only an iCloud-backup service using the Apple ID, and even then Snapchat and WhatsApp content is limited.
Where our app fits, honestly. Ultimate Phone Spy runs on Android 4.0+, Windows and macOS — no iPhone version, because iOS does not permit one (supported devices). It covers messages, call logs, social notifications, installed apps and location from one dashboard (pricing). If the device you need to watch is an iPhone, use Find My and Screen Time and skip us.
One rule that outranks the choice: install only on a device you administer — your child's phone, your own, or a company device with written policy — and tell them it is there. Every tool in this list assumes that.
