Screen Time is enough for many families, but use both the app restriction and the installation restriction. On the child’s iPhone, open Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn it on. Then open iTunes & App Store Purchases > Installing Apps and choose Don’t Allow. Remove TikTok after that setting is active.
For a time limit instead of a full block, use Settings > Screen Time > App Limits > Add Limit > Social and select TikTok. Turn on Block at End of Limit and protect Screen Time with a parent-only passcode. Under Family Sharing, the family organizer can manage the child’s Screen Time from the organizer’s Apple device.
Check two common loopholes: TikTok may still work in Safari, so review Content Restrictions > Web Content, and a child who knows the Screen Time passcode can undo the rule. Do not reuse the iPhone unlock code.
If your household mixes iPhone and Android devices or needs one parent dashboard, compare third-party family tools after checking current iOS limitations:
- Parentaler for app rules, schedules, and family location features. Buy Parentaler →
- Eyezy when you also want broader family-safety alerts and device activity information. Buy Eyezy →
Confirm that TikTok blocking is supported for the exact iOS version and plan before purchasing. Apple updates can change what third-party apps can control.
