As a parent, I am constantly looking for the best parental control setup to keep my family safe, specifically regarding how to unblock an app on family link without parent. I have been researching the Ultimate Phone Spy App and similar tools, but there’s so much conflicting information online?

There is no setting in Family Link that unlocks an app without the parent account — the allow/block list is enforced from the family manager's login and the child's device re-syncs it, so uninstalling the app, clearing its data or changing the clock only puts the block back. The only legitimate unlock runs through the parent's Family Link app or Google's age-out process.

If you are the parent and the block is yours. Family Link → your child → Controls → Apps & extensions, find the app and switch it from Blocked to Allowed; family.google.com does the same in a browser if the app is not on your own phone. If you cannot sign in because the supervising account is the one you lost, that is an account-recovery problem, not a device problem: start at recovery.google.com, then Family Link support. Resetting the child's phone to shake supervision is a bad trade — the account link outlives the reset, and you lose the photos.

If you are the child reading this. You need your parent's approval, and no third-party APK, date change or "unlock tool" changes that. Those are the routes that get a phone wiped, a school device agreement voided or an account locked, and we are not going to walk you through them. Asking directly, with a reason and a time limit, is the only method that works twice. Bypassing a control on a device you do not administer is also a computer-misuse matter in most jurisdictions — the line is not "did it work", it is "whose account is this".

What a permitted setup looks like. Where a parent wants oversight rather than a hard block, Ultimate Phone Spy reads SMS, call logs, web history and location from an Android phone the family administers (parental control features); Android 4.0+, Windows and Mac, no iPhone support. It is disclosed monitoring, not a bypass, and it does not remove Family Link or override it.
