Is life 360 better than find my?

Is life 360 better than find my? I am currently evaluating the Ultimate Phone Spy App and similar monitoring tools, and I am wondering if they actually handle this specific scenario effectively. Has anyone here tested this functionality?

Neither is better in the abstract: Find My is more private and lighter on battery, Life360 is more featureful and works across Android and iPhone. Which one wins depends on whether you need geofence alerts and driving reports (Life360) or just accurate, quiet location sharing inside Apple's ecosystem (Find My).

Full disclosure: we build Ultimate Phone Spy, a parental-control app for exactly this — web history, app activity and screen time in one dashboard. Plans start at $16/month on the 12-month option, and the current plans are on our pricing page.

    Head to head:

    • Accuracy. Both are good. Find My is usually tighter on Apple hardware; Life360 is fine but depends on each member's phone settings.
    • Cross-platform. Life360 wins outright. Find My is Apple-only, and its web view is limited — an Android child cannot join.
    • Alerts. Life360's Places (arrive/leave geofences) and crash detection are the features people actually pay for. Find My offers arrival/leave notifications for contacts, but no driving reports.
    • Battery. Find My is lighter. Life360 keeps a continuous location loop and commonly appears near the top of the battery screen.
    • Privacy. Find My keeps location inside Apple's ecosystem. Life360's business model has historically included sharing de-identified location data with partners, which is a legitimate reason some families choose Apple's option. Read whichever policy applies to you rather than trusting a review.
    • Cost. Find My is free. Life360's free tier is ad-supported and the useful alerts sit behind a subscription.

The verdict: a family of iPhone users who want simple, low-noise location should stay with Find My. A mixed Android/iPhone family, or parents who specifically want "text me when she leaves school", should pay for Life360 and turn its battery-saver mode on.

Whichever you pick, remember neither shows what is happening on the phone — location answers "where", not "who are they talking to" or "why is the phone active at 2am". Those need a different tool, and it should be installed with the child's knowledge.
