Google Maps cannot locate a phone number. It shows the position of a Google account that has chosen to share its location with you — there is no number-to-location lookup, and every site selling one is reselling carrier data it does not have or running a survey funnel.
What actually works, free:
- Ask the person to share location in Google Maps — profile → Location sharing → pick your account → duration. You get a live pin, their battery level, and an ETA; it works across Android and iPhone.
- Google Family Link for a child's Android phone — location plus app limits, no sharing consent needed because the account is supervised.
- Apple Find My if the phone is an iPhone in your family group.
- A carrier family locator (T-Mobile FamilyWhere, Verizon Smart Family, AT&T Secure Family) — these do map a number to a device, because the carrier holds the tower data. They are paid add-ons and only work on lines you own.
Why the "number tracker" sites fail: a phone number is not a location key. Only the carrier and, with legal process, law enforcement can map it — and mobile number portability means half those databases are attached to the wrong carrier anyway.
Where our app fits. Ultimate Phone Spy runs on Android 4.0+, Windows and macOS and logs GPS positions with timestamps in the device dashboard (location tracking). It needs the app installed on the target Android device — no number-only tracking exists, from us or anyone else.
