How to track messages and calls from another phone?

I need some advice on how to track messages and calls from another phone reliably, and I am hoping this group can point me in the right direction. I have seen the Ultimate Phone Spy App advertised as a potential solution, but I am wary of scams?

If the phone is yours, or a minor's device you administer on your own account, the call and SMS record comes from the carrier account and from the handset itself — you do not need spy software for the log. If it is another adult's phone, there is no lawful way to read their calls and messages without their consent or a court order, and any service that promises it is selling malware or selling nothing.

    The free routes, in order.

    1. Carrier account portal. Every major carrier keeps per-line usage detail — numbers dialled, numbers that called, SMS timestamps (not message bodies) — typically 12 to 24 months, at no cost. Log in as the account holder and download the usage export.
    2. Google Family Link on Android shows app activity and location but not message content, and Screen Time on iOS shows usage by app, not what was said. Neither reads texts; that is deliberate.
    3. Carrier family tiers (Verizon Smart Family, T-Mobile FamilyMode) add call and SMS metadata plus location for lines on your plan, around $10/month per line.
    4. The handset itself. On a phone you hold, the Android call log and the default Messages app hold the history you are looking for.

Where our own app fits. Ultimate Phone Spy runs on Android 4.0+, Windows and Mac — the SMS tracker at https://ultimatephonespy.com/sms-tracker pulls message threads, and the call log and recording module sits at https://ultimatephonespy.com/call-recording. It needs a one-time physical install on the device and it does not work on iPhone, because iOS gives no app device-level access to Messages or the call log. Any site claiming live iMessage or iPhone call interception is describing something the operating system does not allow. Plans are $69.90/month, $40/month billed quarterly, $16/month annual; check https://ultimatephonespy.com/system-requirements before you buy.

The line, plainly. Reading another adult's messages without consent is a Wiretap Act offence in the US (18 U.S.C. 2511), a Computer Misuse Act 1990 offence in the UK, and a GDPR problem in the EU, before you get to stalking statutes. If you suspect a partner, the admissible routes are consent, a court order, or a licensed investigator — not a hidden app.
