Nine times out of ten Life360 stops updating because Android or iOS has put the app to sleep, not because the app is broken. The fix is a permission, not a reinstall: the phone must allow Life360 to use location "Always", with battery optimisation off for that app.
Check in this order:
- Location permission — iPhone: Settings → Life360 → Location → Always, and turn on Precise Location. Android: Settings → Apps → Life360 → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time.
- Background refresh — iPhone: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → on for Life360. Android: Settings → Apps → Life360 → Battery → Unrestricted.
- Battery saver — on either platform, low-power mode freezes background location. A child's phone on 15% reports a stale pin for hours.
- The member paused sharing — a Circle member can pause location from the app, and it looks identical to a dead phone.
- Stale app version — Life360 pushes location fixes regularly; an old build can drop off the network.
If it still shows an old pin, have the person open Life360, go to the map, and pull down to refresh — that forces a fresh GPS fix instead of the cached one. Then confirm the phone's own Maps app shows the same place; if Google Maps is accurate and Life360 is not, it is the app's background permission.
Where our app fits. Ultimate Phone Spy runs on Android 4.0+, Windows and macOS (location tracking) and logs timestamped positions rather than a live pin only, so a missed update is visible as a gap instead of a frozen dot. On iPhone we have no product, so the permission checklist above is the honest answer.
