Roku has no PIN-locked parental controls on the device itself. What it has is per-app support: Roku's own "Kids & Family" section, and the parental settings inside Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube and Max, each with its own PIN. There is no system-wide content rating lock like a Fire TV or an Apple TV has.
What you can actually do on a Roku:
- Per-app PINs — Netflix (profile with maturity rating + 4-digit PIN), Disney+ (Kids profile), Prime Video (PIN on purchase and playback), YouTube (restricted mode, weak but something), Max (kids profiles). Set each one on the TV with its remote.
- Roku PIN for purchases — my.roku.com → PIN preference. Stops paid channel signups and rentals.
- Hide channels — Settings → TV inputs / Home screen → hide the apps you do not want visible. Cosmetic, not a lock.
- Network-level blocking — block the streaming service's domains on your router or DNS filter, which is the only way to stop an app from being opened at all.
- Guest mode / a kids-only TV — Roku's Guest Mode resets after checkout, which is handy for a shared room.
What Roku does not have: a system-wide maturity rating, per-profile PINs across apps, or time limits. Fire TV and Apple TV do this better; Apple TV's Screen Time integration is the strongest of the three.
Where our app fits. Ultimate Phone Spy covers Android 4.0+, Windows and macOS (features) — no TV coverage, so router-level blocking is the honest answer for a Roku.
