As a parent, I am constantly looking for the best parental control setup to keep my family safe, specifically regarding how to delete a device from family link. I have been researching the Ultimate Phone Spy App and similar tools, but there’s so much conflicting information online?

In the Family Link app: select the child → the device → Device settings (gear icon) → "Remove device" (or "Unenroll device" on older versions). The child's account stays in your family; only that phone stops being managed. Removing the account entirely is a separate step under the child's profile.

    Step by step:

    1. Open Family Link as the parent → tap the child's name.
    2. Under "Devices" (or the device card on the child's screen) tap the phone you want gone.
    3. Tap the gear/settings icon → Remove device → confirm.
    4. On the child's phone, Family Link's supervision notification disappears within a few minutes. If it does not, reboot the phone.
    5. If you are handing the phone to someone else, also sign the child's Google account out on that device and factory reset it.

Two things people get wrong: deleting the device does not delete the child's account or free up the family slot, and if the phone was set up as "supervised" you may need to remove supervision first (child's device → Settings → Google → Parental controls → Unenroll) before the account can be used as a normal adult account.

Where our app fits. Ultimate Phone Spy runs on Android 4.0+, Windows and macOS (features) and is managed from a web dashboard rather than the child's Google account — so removing it means logging in and revoking the device, not changing supervision. Different mechanism, same principle: you hold the parent credentials.
